Earth Day Giveaway

Earth Day is coming up on April 22! Visit the Earth Day Network website to search for activities and events in your area or to see how you can become involved. Whatever you decide to do, I encourage you to make an extra effort this coming week to consider how your choices impact the Earth's environment and also to get outside to enjoy some of Earth's beauty. For some ideas about choices that are more eco-friendly you can read past Green Space articles.

To help you celebrate, we have a copy of Eco-Friendly Families by Helen Coronato and a copy of The Lorax by Dr. Suess to giveaway to go to two separate winners.

The Lorax is a creature who tries to save the Truffula trees from the greedy Once-ler. However, the Lorax fails to stop the Once-ler who pollutes the environment and drives all the creatures including the Lorax off the land. The story ends on a hopeful note while illustrating to children the value of environmental stewardship.

Though children are not the target audience of Helen Coronato's Eco-Friendly Families the book does include many tips for including children and teens in the family's effort to make more eco-friendly choices. Eco-Friendly Families is a great book for beginners or any family who wants to increase their efforts to go green.

You may enter the contest through midnight on Monday, April 20 and the winner will be announced in the Green Space article on Tuesday. You may earn an entry in three ways:

1) Leave a comment on this post with your plans for Earth Day.

2) Subscribe to this blog. Leave a separate comment saying that you subscribe.

3) Post about this giveaway on your blog. Leave a comment with the trackback URL to that post.

Good luck! Happy Earth Day!

For Earth Day I'm also starting a small garden. I've never had one, but always wanted to! This seems like the perfect time :-)

I will be reading Earth Day related picture books with my kids. Too cold here to start our garden, though we may try starting a few plants indoors.

My son and I will be reading some relevant books, and making some crafts out of recycled objects. (He's almost 4.)
