CentsAble Shopper Show & Tell

This week's Show & Tell is being hosted by Cassie at Homeschooling Four. Read her post below and visit her site!

If you have never been to my site, be sure to check out my weekly posts on Thursdays for deals at Publix. This is one of things I love to blog about (including great deals at other stores).I also write about my homeschooling adventures. With a dyslexic child, a perfectionist and 1 who is just lazy, things are interesting. And, like all good mommy blogs, I love to include the occasional fun family posts.

My husband and I have been married for almost 10 years and we had 4 children in 5 years. You could say our home is never quiet or dull.My newest weekly post is on Tuesdays where you can watch my fat disappear. I am in a blog-style competition with a friend. We both want to lose 30 pounds by the end of May. I am 22 pounds away and ready to win!!I started this blog in November of 2007. In the beginning my purpose was to make a little extra money to help our budget. Now, I am just addicted (isn't that what happens to the best of us?).

My best deals this week were at CVS, Publix and Winn-Dixie. Even though none of them had incredible deals, between the 3, I was very pleased with the end results.

Now it's your turn!! Tell us all about the awesome shopping trip you had this week. Go ahead, BRAG!!! :) You'll automatically be entered to win a Pampered Chef Paring Knife with Sharpening Case ($15 value)

Post your link in Mister Linky OR leave the information about your trip in the comments section! The Show and Tell will not close until Sunday at midnight. The winner will be announced at the Grocery Gathering on Monday! The winner must email us within 2 days to claim their prize!

I can't wait to hear all about your awesome shopping adventures!!!
*Come back next week when we will be featuring The Happy Housewife and enter to win a $10 CVS gift card!!

I'm new to this--hope I'm doing it right. I found a good deal on General Mills cereals this week: Cashwise (a local grocery) had 4 boxes for $8. Then an in-store coupon for $4 off 4, and I had a $1 off 3 mfr coupon. So I got four boxes of cereal for $3. I know this isn't as good as what the "pros" do, but my kids were excited to get Lucky Charms as a treat.

I think that's pretty great! Less than a $1 a box!!

I love the idea of Show and Tell! I posted my yard sale finds from this morning since I didn't do so great at CVS this week.

I had a Safeway rain check for 40 cans of Campbell's Select canned soup, sale-priced at 10 for 10.00. Safeway rain checks are good for thirty days, which gave me time to find coupons on ebay. (I spent 3.00 for enough coupons to save .25 on each can.) I brought in my rain check and my coupons and thought I'd done well to get 40 cans of this soup for just over .80 cents each after coupons. As I left, the cashier handed me a stack of catalina coupons. Unbeknownst to me, the store was running a promotion that offered a 1.00 coupon towards the next shopping trip, one coupon for every two cans purchased! (Of course, they expected that the customer would be paying the regular retail price of 3.29 per can!) So not only did I get a great deal on the soup, I ended up with 20.00 towards my next shopping trip!

I went shopping at Kohl's for shoes for my son (which we didn't get but find online cheaper with NO tax or shipping) and I always look at the clearance sales. I purchased other 4 items.

They were:

1 Carter's brand infant snowsuit - reg. $28.00 / sale $5.60
3 Carter's brand toddler sleep wear - reg. $20.00 each or $60.00/ sale $4.00 each or $12.00.

My subtotal came to reg. $88.00 / sale $17.60 but then I had a $5.00 coupon for giving Kohl's my email, SOO my grand total without tax was $12.60 for 4 items or $3.15 for each item. That is a savings of $75.40!

I was so very excited and thought I would share!!!

I don't know how good a deal THIS was, but...

My military commissary had an "unannounced" (not in papers, but it WAS advertised on the sandwich board signs outside for the 2 weeks prior) "Mini Caselot sale"...they had a lot of great bargains...my best ones were:
1. 4 cases (12 pk bottles, 16.9 fl oz) of Snapple tea for $4...yup, you read that right, $1/case! That means that I paid less than 10 cents per bottle. Usually, these bottles sell for about $1 each (they had the cases marked as being $6.99 each regularly)...so my savings on that was $24 (based on their price).

I also snagged a 3-pack of WishBone spritzer, salad dressing for $1.99. Those usually retail for about $2 per bottle...they had the package marked at regular $5.99. AND they had a 75 cent/2 bottles coupon which they applied (there WERE three bottles in the package!). So, the final price was $1.24, for a grand savings of $4.75.

This is a GREAT week for stocking up on baby stuff at CVS. I scored $122 worth of groceries including diapers and food for $6 and earned 38 ECB for next time.

I just linked to a blog post with my CVS savings. Don;t know if I detailed it right, but after factoring ECB spent and earned, I paid $0.12 for about $86 worth of stuff.
